The site offers both Spanish and English-language versions and plays host to an extensive range of features. These include an online newsroom, cataloguing press releases for the airline’s recent initiatives, such as its ‘Zero Cabin Waste’ project to improve recycling rates on its flights, and its announcement of increased capacity on key Latin American routes.
Iberia’s PressArea also incorporates an image library which showcases the airline’s logos, menus and, for aeroplane buffs, archive photos of its historical fleet dating back to the 1930s.
On top of that, there is a video archive, interactive copies of Iberia’s in-flight magazines, and even a gallery of some of the Madrid-based airline’s famous passengers over the years - including John Wayne, Ella Fitzgerald, and Liza Minnelli.
Iberia’s PressArea also houses the airline’s corporate responsibility and sustainability documents and an easy-to-manage contacts area for the press.
The site replaces Iberia’s old Vignette content management system (CMS) which was complicated to update and had become a barrier to Iberia's press team rather than a useful tool to show their images, press releases and videos to the press. The new site also includes PressArea’s new static page functionality that allows brands to change and style their standard pages.
"The site allows the Iberia team to create dynamic and static pages quickly and easily, and to produce and edit content in both Spanish and English," says Marcus Austin, PressArea’s IT Director.
